Countless hiking trails in Saalbach Hinterglemm offer all sorts of highlights for every taste; for connoisseurs, for families, for nature enthusiasts, for passionate hikers, for real athletes. The Bachgut resort team compiled five of the neatest hiking tours in Saalbach Hinterglemm for you.

Sonnseitpromenade

This comfy intro to hiking in Saalbach Hinterglemm leads throughout the village in just under 2.5 hours. These 9.7 km start and end on the village square. Take the Skiliftstrasse and pass the Kohlmaisbahn cable car, then hike to Jausern on the Ronachweg and return to the start via the Saalachpromenade. This excellently signposted hiking path is a must for the next family holiday..

Zwölferkogel loop tour

The Zwölferkogelbahn takes you to the intermediate station in just a few minutes. Take route 8 to embark on this beginner-friendly path. After a break at the reservoir, you hike back to Hinterglemm in the valley on forest roads and the Schwarzacherweg via Ellmaualm, Hintermaisalm and Grabenhütte. This easy-going loop hike leads slightly downhill almost constantly and takes about 3.5 hours.

Asitzkopf

Several medium hiking trails lead through Saalbach Hinterglemm and its surrounding mountain scenery including the tour on the Asitzkopf. Take the Kohlmaisbahn to the mountain station and embark on the 11.2-km-long hike. The Saalachtaler Höhenweg leads to the Asitzkopf summit via Wildenkarkogel and Schönleiten. After descending to the Schönleitenhütte hut, you take the forest road via Thurneralm to the Kohlmaisbahn intermediate station and travel back into the valley. Five delightful hours await you.

Reiterkogel

The exacting family hike with a short, sharp ascent and drawn-out descent seems imposing at first glance. After all, 8.5 km in over four hours are quite a lot. Exiting the Reiterkogelbahn mountain station, you hike uphill to the summit via route 5. The long descent starts at the weather cross. Reiteralm, Sonnalm and Unterreitweg lead to the Glemmtaler Landesstrasse and back to the Reiterkogelbahn via Promenade 3.

Manlitzkogel

We saved one of the most difficult hiking paths in Saalbach Hinterglemm for last. The Zwölferkogelbahn takes you to the start of this 5.5-hour tour with 13.4 km and over 600 altitude metres ascent. The brief downhill part at the mountain station is deceiving, because you’ll soon hit the steep switchbacks up onto the Hohe Pinhab. The following ridgeway hike to the Seekar unearths amazing views. Schönhoferwand, Stoffennieder and Manlitzkogel are the next pretty steep stops. You can relax now, as the long descent of 1,060 altitude metres via Panoramaweg, Höhenweg 6 and Ellmaualm to the intermediate station is mostly easy-going. You only need to pay particular attention to the rocky parts in wet conditions.
