For beginners or pros, easy-going bikers or up-and-coming endurance cracks – the bike sport has found a home around the Bachgut resort. We have compiled 5 of the best mountain bike trails in Saalbach Hinterglemm for you.
This legendary single trail impresses with its breathtaking, clear view across the entire region, among other things. Reach the Hacklberg tour via Schattberg X-press and descent via X-Line, which branches off left to a forest road onto the western summit. 10 km and over 1,000 altitude metres await you now. You don’t have to pedal as the downward slope virtually drags you into the valley. Beginners like the moderate tempo, pros the air time of the jumps. Bike back into the valley via the Buchegg Trail.
Bergstadl loop tour
The Bergstadl loop is likely the most popular of the beginner-friendly MTB trails in Saalbach Hinterglemm. Unhurriedly bike from Hinterglemm to the Zwölferkogelbahn, then take the gravel road alongside the Schwarzachergraben. The fork after 1.5 km brings wonderful challenges through forests and meadows with it, leading to the intermediate station of the Westgipfelbahn. Take the forest road back to the starting point at a moderate downward slope.
Finsterbach loop tour
This medium tour across 19.7 km and 740 altitude metres starts at the Schattberg X-press valley station. Cross the village centre toward the north and follow the Spielbergbach stream until just below the Spielberghaus, where drawn-out switchbacks lead through the forest. After crossing the ski slope at the highest point of the tour at just under 1,700 m, you take a break at the reservoir to enjoy the view. Bike back to the Reiteralm via the forest road or the Wetterkreuz Trail, then continue to the Reiterkogelbahn where the forest road, the Blue-Line and the Pro-Line lead back to Hinterglemm.
Schattberg round tour
Once again, we start at the Schattberg X-press. The Glemm Valley cycling trail leads to Jausern, then takes a left to the Löhnersbachgraben. The long ascent onto the Schattberg is challenging with its switchbacks and altitude metres, but also highly diverse. More than 1,200 altitude metres pretty much fly by with grand view of lush green alp scenery. You like things a bit more spectacular? Take the technically challenging X-Line back!
It is the biggest insiders’ tip among the many mountain bike trails in Saalbach Hinterglemm: The Hochalm Trail is hidden at the mountain station of the Reiterkogel cable car. Passing the Rosswaldhütte, you take the ridgeway to the Reichkendlkopf and the Spieleck T-bar lift mountain station. This is where the trail really kicks off. Eight scenic kilometres with approx. 1,000 altitude metres of descent amaze with scenic beauty, but also several easy rock fields and root stages.
